Music & Movement: Week 1

I’ve been dying to start a Music & Movement program. I love dancing, (badly) singing and playing with instruments. I couldn’t wait until this program started. Since I wasn’t sure exactly how many kids or what age I would get I kept it very low key. I ended up with 2 kids, both age 2. I went with the flow of what these kids wanted to do, they were both great little guys and I hope they come back next week (with more friends)!

Come Along and Sing With Me (Tune: Mulberry Bush)
Come along and sing with me
Sing with me, sing with me
Come along and sing with me
On this happy day

Egg Shakers

Who doesn’t love brand new shakers!

Going to Kentucky
I was going to Kentucky, going to the fair
To see the senorita with the flowers in her hair
Oh, shake it, shake it, shake it
Shake it if you can
Shake it like a milkshake
And do the best you can
Oh, wobble to the bottom
Wobble to the top
And turn around and turn around until you make a stop!

Shake Your Shakers (Tune: London Bridge)
Shake your shakers in the air
Shake it here, shake it there
Shake your shakers in the air
Shake your shakers
Shake it high and shake it low
Shake it yes, shake it no
Shake it high and shake it low
Shake your shakers
Shake it up and shake it down
Shake your shakers on the ground
Shake it up and shake it down
Shake your shakers
Shake it near and shake it far
Drive your shaker like a car
Shake it near and shake it far
Shake your shakers
Shake it fast and shake it slow
Shake it stop, shake it go
Shake it fast and shake it slow
Shake your shaker

Song Cube

4

The song cube was as exciting as I hoped it would be, the children started jumping up and down when they saw it landed on the bus.

Musical Instruments

Next I put the music on shuffle and let the kids and their parent have free rein. It was a lot of fun to see the children experimenting with the different instruments, even the parents were getting into it.

Summary: The children were a little younger than I was hoping for and since there were only two it was a very laid back program. I look forward to it growing in the future.
