For “Birdsongs” we used the Kindle Fire to show the kids videos of the birds. They loved singing the actual bird and hearing the noise (much better than me trying to make bird calls!).

Two Little Blackbirds
Two little blackbirds sitting on a hill (hold up 2 thumbs)
One named Jack and one named Jill (wiggle thumbs)

Fly away Jack, fly away Jill (hide thumbs behind back)
Come back Jack, come back Jill (bring thumbs out front)

Two little blackbirds sitting on pole
One named Fast and one named Slow
Fly away Fast, fly away Slow (move thumb fast and slow)
Come back Fast, come back Slow

Two little blackbirds sitting on a cloud
One named Quiet and one named Loud (whisper and yell)
Fly away Quiet, fly away Loud
Come back Quiet, come back Loud

Little Birds, Little Birds
Little birds, little birds jump up and down
Little birds, little birds don’t make a sound
Little birds, little birds tiptoe to me
Little birds, little birds bend your knees
Little birds, little birds peep, peep, peep
Little birds, little birds fly to the leaf
Little birds, little birds, sit down please

Feathered Birds

Isn’t this flannel board amazing?!?! My wonderful co-worker made it for me, the kids were in awe and couldn’t keep their hands off it. I’m typically okay with them taking the flannel pieces off the board but I was nervous these would get ruined.

Five feathered birds sitting at the door,
One flew away and then there were four.
Four feathered birds singing in a tree,
One flew away and then there were three.
Three feathered birds looking at you,
One flew away and then there were two.
Two feathered birds sitting in the sun,
One flew away and then there was one.
One feathered bird looking like a hero,
He flew away and now there are zero.
